Q+A With Herpes And Sven (Conducted By Www.Dissidentenclub.Com)

Q: The Last Q+A With You We Did When You Started Doing The New Album. Now, Half A Year Later, You And The Other Guys Are Already Mixing The First Songs. How Do You Feel About Them?

Herpes: Listening To The First Finished Songs, It Feels Really Good And Really Different, Compared To The Last Time. I Think We Finished The Music Last Week, When Sven Recorded The Last Percussion Elements To A New Song At Midnight, Which Doesn’t Have A Title So Far. Now, After Finishing The Music, I Have To Write Lyrics For Some Songs. It Will Take Another Month, I Guess.

Sven: I Think This Is Really Different. Maybe Not Only If You Look At The Results, Even The Workflow Is Different. On The One Hand We Are A Lot Better Organised So We Are Much More Productive, On The Other Hand We Simply Started To Play Around With Many Sounds At Midnight, Which Feels A Little Bit More Organic. We Also Use New Equipment To Make It Sound Even Better Than Before. Everything Is More Homogenic, This Time It Is Not An Experiment, We Know Exactly What We Are Doing.

Q: From Reading The Song Titles, One Could Expect An Album Full Of "Space-Songs". Where Does This Theme Come From?

Herpes: To Tell You The Truth: I Have No Idea! I Try Not To Think About The Lyrics That Much, To Leave The Words Open To Many Interpretations.

Sven: Space May Be The Right Concept To Describe What We Are Looking For - Much Space, So You Can Move Into Every Direction.

Q: What Can We Expect From The New Album?

Herpes: We Learned A Lot, Doing The Last Record. Now It’s Time To Play With What We Found Out, Doing The Last One, Which Are Generally Mixing Things And In That Case Not That Interesting For The Readers.
Musically The New Songs Are Much More Based On Electronic Stuff. So You Can Expect Some Pop Elements Mixed With Elements From The Last One. Lyrically, It’s Even Harder To Tell, What It Is About. We Have Many Space-Lyrics, Then Things That Holy Called "Hard Rocking Songs For Lovers", Songs About Friendship, Best Friends, Failed Friendship And So On…Many Potential Number One Hits, If We Were Under Record Contract. (Laughs)

Sven: I Don´T Think We Moved Into An Electronic Direction. Of Course, There Are Many Electronic Elements, But There Is Also A Lot Organic Stuff. I Think There Is A Better Balance Now, Everything Fits Perfectly Now, As Herp Said, We Have Learned A Lot.

Q: Are There Any Guest Musicians?

Herpes: We Recorded Some Things With Someone, Who’s Not A Dissident, Yes… But If It Will Be On The Album, I’m Not Able To Tell At The Moment.

Q: Will There Be Any Concerts To Promote The New Album?

Herpes: Yes, There Will Be Concerts. Stay Tuned For More Details…

Q: Do You Still Like "Gift" One Year After It’s Release?

Herpes: I’m Still Proud We Did It, Yes. But Now It’s Time To Move On To Different Stuff.

Sven: Damn, It's Always The Same With Me, Listening To "Gift", I Always Find Myself Thinking, Well I Could Have Done This Better. Sometimes I Really Hate My Guitar Sound, Sometimes It Is Brilliant. But If You Take "Komm Mit (Free)" I Think This Is A Perfect Song, I Won't Get Bored Listening To It. We Did Exactly What We Wanted To Do And There Is Nothing More To Add. A Good Album Anyway, But We Won't Record "Gift" Again, Time Is Up For New Ways.

Q: You’re Playing Gelsenkirchens Musiktheater Im Revier On April, 15. Can We Expect New Songs?

Herpes: We Didn’t Choose The Songs To Perform There, But I Guess There Will Be New Stuff.

Q: What About Other Projects At The Moment?

Sven: Dissident(En) Club Takes A Lot Of Time And Power, But I´M Recently Working On Other Stuff. I Like Our Idea Of Making Music Without Any Borders, Never Saying "Well, You Cannot Do This Or That", But With DC We Are Still Writing Songs. With My Other Project Sellafield I´M Trying To Go One Step Further, To Think More Abstract. So This Project Is More An Open Collective Joining People Who Are Not Musicians Primarily. By The Way, Herpes Will Also Collaborate For The New Album. This Will Be The Most Wired Stuff We Did So Far, Impossible To Label It To Any Kind Of Genre. I Think This Is Absolute Freedom In Making Music. I Hope That We Will Release The Next DC Album And The Next Sellafield Release In Summer.

Q: One Last Question: How's The Opera Going On?

Herpes: Fine. I Will Not Tell You More On This One, Until The Right Time To Talk About It, Ok?

Q: Well, Thank You For The Interview.

Herpes: Thanks
